Kathryn Joy Merrell Morris
Kate was born and
raised in West Palm Beach, FL. She is a true Florida girl - blonde hair,
blue eyes and LOVES pink. Kate went to college at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. While in College, she served in Student Government, founded the Delphinian Society, studied abroad and started her own business. Kate majored in Accounting. During her study aboard in London, England she became best friends with Ashley Quinones
.
After graduation, Kate worked on building her business - Katydid Designs. Katydid is a line of grosgrain ribbon bags, belts, shoes and accessories. She specializes in colorful and preppy designs.
In 2007, Kate was called to go on a mission trip to Pucallpa, Peru. There she used her sewing skills to make curtains for the Bible institute and teach the indigenous Indians how to sew. While on the trip to meet her now husband, Jeremy Morris. It was this same trip that started the whole kidney donation process!
Kate lives in downtown West Palm Beach with her husband Jeremy and their golden retriever Abby. The enjoy sitting in their backyard watching the lake, going for bike rides and taking Abby to the beach. Kate and Jeremy are close with their families. Kate's two sisters and parents still live close by, so family dinners are a regular occurrence.
Both Jeremy and Kate are heavily involved in their church - Christ Fellowship CityPlace. They host a Bible study in their home on Thursday nights and Kate is involved in the women's ministry.
In addition to her commitment to family and church, Kate gives back to the community. She has been a member of the Junior League of the Palm Beaches for six years. The Junior League is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism and bettering the community through effective actions of trained volunteers. While in the JL, Kate has helped write and create their current cookbook and served as co-chair of the Worth Tasting cookbook during its launch. She has also served as co-chair of Vita Nova, a transition home for kids aging out of foster care. This year, Kate is serving on the Executive Committee and Board of Directions of the Junior League; her position is Community Vice President - over seeing all community projects.
